Church Hats

Church hats are made here one at a time, by hand, by London milliner Monika Perlińska. Wide brims, picture hats, pillboxes and structured crowns, blocked over wooden forms in felt for the cold months and parasisal straw for the warm ones.

Choosing a church hat

A church hat is worn all morning, so it has to sit comfortably and stay put. Every piece is blocked to your own head measurement and wired inside, so it holds its shape and its position without pins. Brims are set by hand, wide enough to frame the face and shaped so you can be greeted without lifting it off.

Colour matched to your suit

Send a photograph of the outfit or post a fabric cutting. Monika matches the colour by hand in daylight. Straw and felt are hand dyed where a shade cannot be bought. A hat can be trimmed with silk flowers, feathers, veiling or a grosgrain band.

Ordering from the United States

Prices are shown in US dollars. Delivery to the United States is £70, tracked and insured, in 5 to 8 business days. Duties are explained before you buy. A commission takes one to four weeks, so allow six weeks before the date you need it. Fittings are held by video call.
